Water Heaters Hold Hardness

January 21st, 2010 | Posted by Todd Buchman | No Comments - Be The First!

I had installed a water conditioning system in a home two months ago.  The home never had water treatment and the water heater is about 20 years old.   I tested the treated water yesterday and the cold water had 0 Hardness and a TDS of 160.   However the hot water  had 4 grains of hardness and a TDS was 380.  This proves that clean soft water will dissolve Hardness from inside of pipes and plumbing.
